Opal Kelly issues this PCN to existing customers of the listed product(s) to inform them of changes and/or updates that may affect current inventory or current and future applications of the product.

The following items are affected by this PCN:

• XEM8320-AU25P

PCB revisions CXX and later are affected by this PCN. Revisions BXX and earlier are not affected by this change. The PCB revision is indicated in silkscreen in the location shown below.

The XEM8320 revision BXX includes a dedicated JTAG programming and debug header (J3) which is compatible with several interface cables, including the AMD Platform Cable. Revision CXX has been updated with a USB-to-JTAG chipset which allows JTAG connection over USB-C without the need for a specialized cable.

Revision CXX no longer includes JTAG header J3. Instead, JTAG is accessed using the vertical-launch USB-C connector J21 (labeled “USB JTAG” in silkscreen).

Although the physical connector for the JTAG header J3 has been removed from revision CXX, the footprint and FPGA connections are still included. To use the JTAG header, place Molex p/n 87831-1420 or equivalent at location J3.
