Opal Kelly issues this PCN to existing customers of the listed product(s) to inform them of changes and/or updates that may affect current inventory or current and future applications of the product.

Issue Date

24 February 2022

Affected Parts

The following items are affected by this PCN:

  • XEM6310-LX45
  • XEM6310-LX45I
  • XEM6310-LX150

Orders shipped on or after 01 February 2022 (PCB Revision EXX and later) are affected by this PCN. All orders shipped with earlier PCB revisions are not affected by this PCN.

Reason for the Change

The Intel Enpirion family of power modules has been discontinued by the manufacturer. Intel EN5322QI is used on the XEM6310 to generate the on-board 3.3V, 1.8V, and 1.2V supplies. Opal Kelly has identified suitable replacement parts for these supplies.

Description of the Change

The Enpirion devices on the XEM6310 are being replaced as described in the table below.

ReferenceVoltageApplicationOriginal P/nReplacement P/N

Intel EN5322QIMicrochip MIC23153YMT

The MIC23153YMT provides a maximum output current of 2 A, equivalent to the EN5322QI.

Additional Notes – Regulator Ripple Behavior

Note the MIC23153YMT includes a light-load mode which provides improved device efficiency at low output currents at the expense of higher voltage ripple. The magnitude and frequency of the ripple depends on output current. At low output currents (less than approximately 250 mA), expected ripple may be as high as 100 mV peak-to-peak with a frequency <1 kHz. At higher output currents (greater than approximately 250 mA), the light-load mode is inactive and ripple is typically <25 mV peak-to-peak.

The oscilloscope traces below illustrate the ripple at low loads.
