Vivado IP Core
The FrontPanel Subsystem Vivado IP Core integrates the FrontPanel HDL from the FrontPanel SDK into your Vivado design as a generated wrapper module and, on Classic boards, wires the modular HDL together for you, removing a step that is easy to get wrong by hand. Manual instantiation from the SDK remains fully supported.
The IP Core supports FrontPanel USB 3.0 (Classic) boards, such as the XEM73xx and XEM83xx families, as well as FrontPanel-AXI boards such as the SZG-HUB1450 and the XEM84xx family. It is not used with USB 2.0 or PCIe boards. See Compatibility for the full list of supported boards. On FrontPanel-AXI boards, the IP Core delivers the okHost gateware documented in the FrontPanel AXI HDL pages, which cover the AXI interfaces okHost presents, designing a system around it, and simulation.
The FrontPanel Subsystem Vivado IP Core is available for download separately from the FrontPanel SDK. However, it includes the same FrontPanel HDL modules provided within the FrontPanel SDK. Information on which version of the FrontPanel SDK contains the HDL modules included in each version of the IP Core can be found at Compatibility.
Additional features of the IP Core include seamless integration of both the synthesis and behavioral simulation cores into a single instantiation, facilitating rapid verification. It is also fully compatible with IPI Block Designer, enabling schematic-style digital design development. Furthermore, the IP Core incorporates embedded example designs that effectively highlight the various features offered by the IP Core.
