FrontPanel SDK
The FrontPanel SDK — the SDK, examples, HDL, simulation models, and FPoIP tools ships inside the FrontPanel Platform application. Once the Platform app is installed, you install the SDK directly from it in a few clicks.
Installing the FrontPanel SDK
In the Launcher window, find the Download Development Kit button in the sidebar on the left, as shown below.

Clicking the button opens the Download the FrontPanel SDK Developer’s Kit dialog. It lists the contents:
- Examples — sample C++, web, and FrontPanel Platform apps, plus per-board FPGA gateware (Windows and Linux)
- API — headers, shared libraries, and language bindings (C/C++, Python, Java; C# on Windows)
- FrontPanelHDL — board-support HDL for every supported Opal Kelly device (Windows and Linux)
- Simulation — behavioral simulation models for FrontPanel HDL
- FPoIP — FrontPanel-over-IP server, password tool, and example certificates

Click Continue to proceed, or Cancel to close without installing.
A folder picker opens. Pick an existing folder or create a new one, then confirm. The kit is extracted into a single named folder at that location — for example, FrontPanel-DevKit-6.1.0/.
When extraction finishes, a notification confirms the install and shows the location. Click Show in Folder to open it in your file manager and start exploring the examples and SDK.
