Statement of Volatility
The devices listed below are the memory devices on the XEM6310MT.
U11 – Firmware EEPROM
This is a 256 KiB (kibibyte) non-volatile EEPROM that stores the FrontPanel firmware. It is not user accessible. The FrontPanel firmware is Opal Kelly proprietary and cannot be removed without affecting functionality.
U7 – DDR2 SDRAM
This is a 1 Gib DDR2 volatile SDRAM with no persistent storage.
U17 – FPGA Flash
This is a 128 Mib non-volatile PROM that is connected to the FPGA.
Sanitization Procedure
The FPGA flash may be reprogrammed by writing an appropriate file to the flash using the Flash Programming Tool in the FrontPanel Application. Select “erase all” to erase the flash. If you need to overwrite the contents, you will need to generate a binary image to write to this flash.
Alternatively, you can write to this flash from the FPGA. You will need to design and configure the FPGA with appropriate logic to do this. Opal Kelly does not provide any example HDL to do this.
U14 – System Flash
This is a 128 Mib non-volatile PROM that is connected to the USB Microcontroller. It also contains the Device ID string and other device settings.
Sanitization Procedure
Device ID and settings would not typically contain anything confidential, proprietary, or secure, but may be reset by the user using FrontPanel software. Device ID and settings may be cleared using the FrontPanel API or the FrontPanel GUI application.
The system flash may be reprogrammed by writing an appropriate file to the flash using the Flash Programming Tool in the FrontPanel Application. Select “erase all” to erase the flash. If you need to overwrite the contents, you will need to generate a binary image to write to this flash.
eFuse (LX150T Only)
One-time programmable eFUSE. Please refer to the Xilinx Spartan-6 FPGA Configuration User Guide(UG380) for documentation on eFuse storage.
